THE SHORTY

Length - Grom size to step up & everything in between

Going back to the Clark Foam days shortboards were in, especially in the 90s with high rockered blanks.

I built a lot back then but the new more user friendly shortboards of now have made riding the high performance blades a lot easier in all conditions.

My most popular shortboard has a slightly lower nose rocker than average with a bit more volume under the chest, this obviously makes paddling a lot easier than a super foiled out nose style makes catching waves so much easier.

With a full curve rocker and increased tail lift keeps it lively in the pocket and easy for tight turns and fast cutbacks.

The bottom shape is a style of the magic Jet bottom, with a deep tapered single concave out the tail on the smaller sizes. I incorporate a slight spiral vee out the tail on the bigger, wider big guy style shortboards.

My step-up shortboards for bigger waves have a similar design with a bit more overall rocker, with more subtle concaves. These as well as big wave guns are all designed separately and are custom order depending on the customer, wave size and conditions.
