The popular Vert Twin came about a couple of years ago when I was asked for a winged performance hybrid twin or twin trailer.
A really versatile performance fish originally a wing swallow with a wider plan shape with an almost shortboard concave set up.
The bottom shape is deep tapered single vee concave to blended vee convex through the fins and out the tail.
A long entry rocker combined with a tapered single concave allows super easy wave catching and speed down the line and the abrupt change to vee and high tail rocker allows for easy turning off your back foot.
I originally built this model as a small fishy shape under 6 foot but then stretched out the whole plan shape keeping the curve in the rail and found that this became a really easy user friendly high performance midlength style.
The same flat deck as the Mad Fish to down rail makes an easy stable platform when standing up and the rails can be buried on turns.
The fin set up was primarily a twin with a swallowtail but since then I’ve built a variety of tail shapes with twin trailer or thruster options, it even works as a quad with a five fin option by moving the wing around (the beauty of custom shapes).
The ‘Round Thumb Tail’ has been really popular with a bit more width in the tail and glide.
